Kate lives in a gated community west of town. Her neighbors have horses, and it seems the perfect spot to raise the chilren. Kate’s husband, John, works hard to provide for the family so that Kate can stay at home with the kids. His last promotion made a huge diference in income, but it also
necessitated more out-of-own buying trips. Since their move to the dream house, Kate has felt more and more alone. Most nights she rushes the kids to bed so that she can open a bottle of wine and make the lonely feelings go away. Lately, she’s been finishing a whole bottle by herself.
If one of the children awakens, she scolds them and sends them back to their room alone. After all, she already tucked them in once. Kate has everything she’s ever wanted, and yet, she ismiserable.
Across town, Aleisha is a single mother who works full-time to support her two sons. Living in an apartent a couple blocks off US-1, Aleisha can walk to the grocery and take the Community Coach to work. She was offered a promotion at work, but had to turn it down because it would have put her just over the level that allowed her the cheaper housing cost. Most days, she sees the kids off to the school bus at 7:00am and then won’t see them again until 6:00pm. She enjoys the two hours she has with them before bed, but finds that she is sometimes so busy with laundry and housework that their time together isn’t fruitful. When she falls into bed at night, she cries for the husand she left behind because of his drug addiction. She cries because rent is due two days before payday, and that will leave nothing for food. Sometimes, Aleisha just cries because she is overwhelmed by the demands of life. These women, and hundreds like them in our community, are at a crossroads. When they stopped livng their lives and started surviving isn’t clear. The only thing for certain is that something has to change. CrossLife International may be the answer. Meeting
people where they are, and pointing them toward real and lasting answers is their goal. A Christian outreach, CrossLife International accomplishes their goal using counseling and discipleship, leadership training, conferences and workshops, residency programs, literature, and even a monthly newsletter. Because CrossLife is based on Biblical beliefs, the counseling offered differs from secular therapy. Instead of trying to build up personal strength, CrossLife Counselors offer release based on understanding one’s true spiritual nature, coming to a resting place of forgiveness, and developing trust in the constant love of God. True, this approach may not be embraced by everyone, but thousands of people give testimony to emotional and spiritual healing attained. The safe environment allows personal circumstances and issues to be expressed and processed. From there, personal security and significance of spirit can be understood. “The people we meet have an identity crisis,” says Don Burzynski, Executive Director in Vero Beach. “With the pulls from their emotions and from society, with their hesitancy to share their innermost feelings,
they arrive at our door seemingly broken. The Good News we share with them is that there is a practical approach to finding themselves through understanding their spirit life. We let them see who they really are in Christ, and that changes everything.” So, how do you handle circumstances on a day-to-day basis without losing your values? At CrossLife International, proven methods of dealing with life are shared. Don Burzynski explains, “Women facing marital strife who are looking for the ‘glory days of the past’ or the ‘hopeful changes of the future’ are redirected to the present moment where the change can begin. CrossLife offers a solution-based approach for the individual and the family dynamic.” CrossLife International is located at 2155 15th Avenue, Suite D1, in Vero Beach.
